Data is distinct pieces of information, facts and statistics collected together from raw for reference or analysis. In today’s world, data rules us all. Our shopping habits, travel plans, entertainment experiences, education etc. all run through the internet. And all these internet activities generate enormous amounts of data.

In this era the world has developed so much that people have moved from being superstitious to being logical. Unlike before, people now correlate events and occurrences rationally to ascertain the cause of problems and proffer possible solutions. Therefore, data analysis refers to a method in which data is collected and organized in such a manner that meaningful and helpful information can be derived from it. In other words, the main reason behind data analysis is to examine the information embedded in any data. This requires having data analytics skills.   
Data Analyst     
A data analyst gathers, arranges, processes and model data. He/She is capable of analyzing large volume of data, be it structured or unstructured. At the end, the main goal of data analysis is to prepare and present data in the right form (graphs, charts or tables) for decision-making and problem-solving process.
A data analyst's job is to take that data and use it to help companies make better business decisions. This could mean figuring out how to price new materials for the market, how to reduce transportation costs, solve issues that cost the company.
Responsibilities of a Data Analyst
The scope for data analysts in ongoing business scenario is huge so the responsibility is increasing   day by day. Some major responsibilities of a data analyst are following:
·        A data analyst would create dashboards, graphs and visualizations on data.           
·        He would design, conduct and analyze survey data.
·        He would find the ongoing market trend and campaigns for particular products.
·        You would identify areas where his company needs to improve in efficiency and process automation.
·        He would develop and support various reporting processes.
·     From time to time, he would prepare reports for both internal and external audiences using various   business analytics tools.                                   

Skills Required for Data Analyst
Analytical Skills: As the name implies, it is clear that analytical skills are of huge importance in data analysis. These skills refer to the ability to gather, view and analyze all forms of information in details. They also mean the ability to view a challenge or situation from different perspectives.
Analytical skills are major data analyst skills that make it possible for us to address problems by making decisions in the most appropriate way. Hence, if we wish to become a successful data analyst, we need to acquire and improve our analytical skills and thinking.
Structured Query Language (SQL) Programming (Database): SQL is a very important language when it comes to data analysisMost employers consider it to be among the most valuable skills within the analytics world. However, only very few data analysts possess this skill. Though it may not be needed for some analysis but it is always important to possess this skill.
Advanced Microsoft Excel: We cannot separate Excel form data analysis as it plays a very important role in the process. When we think Excel, the first thing that comes to mind might be spreadsheets, but there’s a lot more analysis power under the hood such as python programming language.
Scripting Language: You need to know such scripting and analytical languages as Python and R as a data analyst. The more of these languages we know, the more we can enhance our analytical goal.
Communication skills: As a data analyst, it is expected to work with different people in our team. We should be able to communicate effectively with colleague and co-workers to prepare, present and explain data.
Teamwork: The Data and analytics industry is not different from other industries when it comes to preferring with relevant experience of working with people in a team over those who don’t. In as much as the majority of data analytic work may be done independently, we still need a team to execute certain projects. Of course, we need to clearly spell this out in our curriculum vitae.
Google Analytics: Google Analytics is a free web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic, currently as a platform inside the Google Marketing Platform brand. Google launched the service in November 2005 after acquiring Urchin. Google Analytics is the most popular analytical tool. Acquiring an advanced understanding of these tools will definitely boost your chances of beating competitions in the market.

Extensive use of data in India ensures high employment, increases the compensation and helps individuals to connect with the advanced technologies. Analytics can radically change the present business situation by capturing a large volume of data, expand business models, energize the imaginative procedures and overall growth and development of a company.
